This is a cool video shown in Atkinson’s “Understanding Pop Culture” class as a critique of how our society has been completely infiltrated by logos and branding.

  1. Katrina K-P says:

This video is true of our society. We are exposed to logos everywhere…buildings, clothes, cars. Sao Paulo in Brazil has opted for a no logo city and the people seem to enjoy their city better. However, if they ever traveled and were exposed to these logos as much as we are…I feel like they would perhaps consume more than we do. Because we ARE exposed to these brand logos on a daily basis, we are able to ignore them…for the most part.

  2. Darcee Carnes, 090814820 says:

I really think the no logo city seems like a neat concept, however it could be seen as extreme censorship.
That reminds me of the fact that schools are seen as brand free zones, or they are assumed to only support brands which have the students best interests in mind, however there are many schools which advertise brands to gain money…
Unfortunately I believe that the brands seen in schools have more of an influence on children than those seen outside of the classroom.
