Racism in consuming-Steven Greathead

Posted: March 1, 2012 in Uncategorized

This article just caught my eye, after talking about sexism and consumption in ads and reading the black barbie article based on racism for this week I was surprised to find this article about the uproar regrading an FHM cover for march. The cover has a picture of   Bela Padilla posing with dark skinned ladies beside her and the tag line reads “Stepping Out Of The Shadows.”  This cover has received a great number of criticism and has been pulled. It is just surprising that in todays society you can still see so many racist ads to try and lead people to consume.

Here is the link for the FHM cover article
