Colin P – Coca-Cola Ad (Supertramp)

Posted: October 9, 2013 in Uncategorized

In this advertisement, Coca-Cola is using security camera footage from around the world to promote a new way of seeing the world. Coke, here, argues that we must see the world a little differently. I found this was a new and interesting way of commercialization (defined as the ability to manage or exploit in a way as to make profit).

This is a very different form of advertising, and I think it is highly effective. By using examples of “real people”, Coke is promoting the idea that people are already enacting this change, and we just need to follow. It relates to the idea of “selling lifestyles”, as this advertisement has nothing to do with the physical act of drinking Coke, rather, about the lifestyle that surrounds the product.
