Colin P – Mike Jeffries & Representation

Mike Jeffries is the controversial CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, who came out this summer and said he only wanted to sell his products to the “cool kids”. This was a response to questions surrounding why he refuses to carry extra large and extra extra large clothing, specifically for women.

After watching the YouTube video in class on eating disorders, I thought of this video. How does this relate to Hunger as Ideology? If A&F is the desired brand, yet only sells to certain sizes, is this a company that forces youth into unhealthy habits through their clothing?

In this video, the Jeffries statement is talked about, and then the main guy in the video goes and gives A&F clothing to the homeless – an attempt, he says, to change their brand image:
