Mike Stoikos – Coke’s Super Bowl ad sparks ‘racist’ backlash

Posted: February 7, 2014 in Uncategorized

The 2014 super bowl aired a Coke commercial that was observed in class in which various cultures are singing ‘America the Beautiful’ in different languages. This seemingly innocent reminder of the United States diversity lead to much racial controversy with thousands speaking out online stating their opinions, many of which are racial and cruel. Here is a link to some tweets that were made regarding the commercial http://9gag.com/gag/ajrBMZR
In my opinion all of these people who tweeted negative comments are bigots and racists. Many were appalled by how ‘unpatriotic’ the commercial was but race shouldn’t have much to do with how patriotic one is about their residing country. Let me know what you guys think!

I agree completely with you on this. I think that race should not have anything to do with how patriotic the country is. I think that the commercial was meant to show how a product has the ability to unite America. Personally I think that the commercial was well done, and thought it made a good representation of America. I think that reactions have been taken to far and people are reading to much into the commercial. This was meant to be a simple commercial to boost the Coca Cola brand and it has done the opposite.
