Danielle Wong – Killing Us Softly

This is a brief segment of Jean Kilbourne’s film called Killing us Softly 4.  She argues that the advertising industry spends billions of dollars in advertisements that promote controversial stereotypes of society.  In addition, she openly speaks about the objectification of men and women in advertising and how these binary oppositional concepts are interpellated into society. For instance, the objectification of gender stereotypes in society. Women are presented as vulnerable, submissive, and objectified sexually. Males, conversely, are presented as aggressive, powerful, and controlling.
